Purchasing Guide – Stay Safe & Shop Smart

• Search nationally (home page), provincially, by city, or on dedicated university pages.
• Register & verify your account to view seller contact details (“Register Now” is on every page).
• Always meet in busy, public places (malls, police stations, school gates, etc.). Bring a friend if possible.
• Inspect items carefully before paying. Test instruments, check condition of uniforms/books/equipment.
• Prefer cash on delivery or instant EFT (PayShap). Never wire money or share banking passwords.
• For university pages: great for second-hand textbooks, lab equipment, music instruments and student-specific deals.
• Report suspicious listings immediately via “Contact Us”.
• Cookies: we use essential and analytics cookies – you accept them via the splash screen on first visit.

Terms & Conditions of Use

• School Marketplace is a free classifieds platform connecting buyers and sellers.
• We do not take part in transactions and accept no liability for what happens after you contact, meet, negotiate or complete a deal with another user.
• You are solely responsible for your safety, the accuracy of your listings, and complying with all South African laws.
• Prohibited: illegal items, scams, harassment, spam, or misleading content. We may remove listings or suspend accounts without notice.
• Advertisements (national, provincial, city, university, bank) are sold to sponsors – we are not responsible for their offers.
• We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use means you accept the changes.
• Governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Privacy Policy – Your Data is Protected

We take your privacy seriously and fully comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013.

• We collect only what is necessary: name, email, cell number, and (when you post) location & photos of items.
• Your personal information is never sold, rented, traded or disclosed to third parties except:
  • when you explicitly ask us to share it with another registered user (e.g., contact seller feature), or
  • when required by South African law or law-enforcement authorities.
• Anonymous posting is supported – your identity stays hidden until you choose to reveal it.
• Contact codes and temporary email forwarding protect your real email address.
• You may request access, correction or deletion of your data at any time via the “Contact Us” page or by emailing support@2nds.pcdr.co.za.
• Data is stored securely in South Africa and retained only as long as needed for the platform’s operation or as required by law.
